Etch outer layer: Remove the blue dry film. The second step is to etch away the exposed/unwanted copper whilst the tin deposit acts an etch resist protecting the copper we need. The third and final step is to chemically remove the tin deposit leaving the circuitry.
This board we refer to here is a 6 layer HDI rigid flex pcb. Its overall board thickness is 1.6mm. The finished copper thickness is 2 OZ. Green solde mask is in the rigid area and amber cover film is in flex area.

HDI boards, one of the fastest growing technologies in PCBs, are now available at x-pcb. HDI Boards contain blind and/ or buried vias and often contain microvias of. 006 or less in diameter. They have a higher circuitry density than traditional circuit boards.
There are 6 different types of HDI boards, through vias from surface to surface, with buried vias and through vias, two or more HDI layer with through vias, passive substrate with no electrical connection, coreless construction using layer pairs and alternate constructions of coreless constructions using layer pairs.
This board is 2-tier HDI flex rigid printed wiring board with bind and buried holes, so the process is complex. Some process take long time. We need to do lamination twice and drill holes by laser. For lamination, in order to have a good yield, we have done FAI, then press the rest.
